Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to exercise?

No.

My coaching focuses on improving your relationship with food and helping you make better nutritional choices.

Everyone's circumstances are different. My own weight loss journey was achieved without structured exercise because, due to ulcerative colitis and hip impingement, it wasn't a realistic option for me.

If you already enjoy being active, that's fantastic and I'll encourage you to continue. If exercise isn't possible or appropriate for you, we'll focus on the areas you can control.

Is this another diet?

No.

I don't provide fad diets, meal replacement programmes or unrealistic eating plans.

Instead, I'll help you understand food, recognise healthier choices and build habits that fit around your own lifestyle.

The goal is to create changes you can maintain for years—not just a few weeks.

Will I have to count calories?

No.

Some people find calorie tracking helpful, while others find it overwhelming.

My approach is centred around understanding food, improving food quality and making better choices rather than becoming obsessed with numbers.
We'll find an approach that works for you.

Will I receive a meal plan?

No.

I don't believe one meal plan works for everyone.
We all have different tastes, routines, budgets and family lives.

Instead of telling you exactly what to eat, I'll help you learn how to make better decisions so you can enjoy food while still working towards your goals.

Can I still eat out?

Absolutely.

Restaurants, holidays, birthdays and family celebrations are all part of life.

One meal won't ruin your progress.

I'll help you make sensible choices without feeling that you're missing out or constantly saying no.

What happens during the weekly coaching sessions?

Each session lasts approximately one hour.

We'll review your progress, discuss any challenges you've faced, celebrate your successes and plan the week ahead.

You'll leave every session with practical advice and realistic goals that fit around your lifestyle.

What if I have a bad week?

Everyone has difficult weeks.

Weight loss isn't a straight line.

The important thing is not giving up because of one meal.

We'll work through any setbacks together, learn from them and keep moving forwards.

Is your coaching suitable if I have a medical condition?

In many cases, yes—but it depends on your individual circumstances.

My coaching focuses on helping people develop healthier eating habits and improve their relationship with food.

However, if you have a medical condition that requires specialist dietary advice, I'll always encourage you to work with your GP, consultant or a registered dietitian.

My coaching is designed to complement, not replace, professional medical care.

Will you tell me exactly what I should eat?

No.

I'll educate, guide and support you rather than hand you a list of foods you must eat.

My aim is to help you become confident making your own informed decisions rather than relying on someone else to tell you what to do.

How much weight will I lose?

I can't answer that because everyone is different.

Your results will depend on many factors, including your starting point, consistency, lifestyle and individual circumstances.

What I can promise is that I'll support you every step of the way and help you build habits that give you the best opportunity to achieve lasting results.

Is this suitable for men and women?

Yes.

I work with both men and women who want to lose weight through realistic lifestyle changes and healthier eating habits.

Do you offer online coaching?

Yes.

Coaching sessions can be carried out via video call, allowing you to work with me from anywhere in the UK.

How do I get started?

The first step is to arrange a free, no-obligation discovery call.

We'll spend around 20–30 minutes talking about your goals, your previous experiences with weight loss and what you're hoping to achieve.

It's also an opportunity for you to ask questions and decide whether my coaching is the right fit for you.

If we both feel we're a good match, we'll arrange your first coaching session and begin your journey together.

What makes Just Better Food different?

Just Better Food was created from personal experience.

I lost 11 stone over 18 months by changing the way I ate, learning about ingredients and building healthier habits.

I didn't have a coach.

I didn't attend a slimming club.

I didn't have weekly support or accountability.

I worked everything out for myself.

Today, my goal is to provide the guidance, encouragement and accountability that I never had—helping others make sustainable changes without relying on fad diets or unrealistic expectations.
